How to record your athletes' 40 yard dash, bench press, 3 cone drill, broad jump, 20 yard shuttle, vertical jump, and 60 yard shuttle.

40 Yard Dash

Record the amount of time it takes your player to run 40 yards. To start, your athlete should stand perpendicular to the finish line.

185 Bench Press

Using a total of 185 pounds, including the barbell, count how many reps your player can perform using full range of motion on the bench press.

3 Cone Drill

Place the 1st cone down, walk 5 yards in a straight line, and set the 2nd cone down. Turn 90 degrees to the right, walk another 5 yards, and set the 3rd cone down. This will create an "L" shape with the cones.

Starting in a three-point stance, measure the amount of time it takes the player to perform the following steps:

  1. Touch the 2nd cone with his hand

  2. Return and touch the 1st cone with his hand

  3. Run around the 2nd cone and head towards the 3rd cone (90-degree turn)

  4. Run completely around the 3rd cone with both feet (180-degree turn)

  5. Run around the 2nd cone (90-degree turn)

  6. Cross the finish line created by the 1st cone

Broad Jump

With both your player's feet planted evenly on the ground and not moving, measure (in feet and inches) how far he jumps in a straight line.

20 Yard Shuttle

Place 3 cones down in a straight line, each 5 yards apart from one another (10 yards should separate the 1st cone and the 3rd cone).

Starting in a three-point stance next to the 2nd cone facing perpendicularly to the line created by the cones, measure the amount of time it takes the player to perform the following steps:

  1. Touch the 3rd cone with his hand

  2. Run and touch the 1st cone with his hand (10 yards away)

  3. Run past the 2nd cone (middle cone)

60 Yard Shuttle

Very similarly to the 20-yard shuttle, place 4 cones down in a straight line, each 5 yards apart from each other (15 yards should separate the 1st cone and the 4th cone).

Starting in a three-point stance next to the 1st cone facing parallel to the line created by the cones, measure the amount of time it takes the player to perform the following steps:

  1. Touch the 2nd cone with his hand (5 yards away)

  2. Return and touch the 1st cone with his hand

  3. Run and touch the 3rd cone with his hand (10 yards away)

  4. Return and touch the 1st cone with his hand

  5. Run and touch the 4th cone with his hand (15 yards away)

  6. Return and cross the finish line created by the 1st cone

Vertical Jump

With both your player's feet planted evenly on the ground and not moving, measure (in feet and inches) how high the player can reach with one arm over his head.

Next, measure (in feet and inches) how high the player can jump and touch with one hand.

Subtract the two measurements to find your player's vertical jump.
